DETAILS: The Zaishu stool / side table are collectable art pieces, designed to be sat upon or used as decorative and functional side tables. Since 2004, Australian furniture designer Matthew Butler has collaborated with hundreds of artists from around the globe as a way to show how culture, creativity and sustainability can be used to make beautiful objects that can be treasured forever.
The name Zaishu comes from the Japanese word "Zaisu", a small chair used in traditional Japanese houses. The design follows Japanese craft traditions to be honest to materials and have a well resolved simple and functional form.
DESIGN: Designed by Matthew Butler of Zaishu. Features a textural knitted print created in collaboration with architect and craft lover Kirsten Johnstone. This Zaishu makes a perfect bedside table.
MATERIALS: Made from premium grade eco certified Russian Birch, easy to clean with a damp cloth and protected with 2 coats of kitchen bench grade varnish. Holds weight up to 200kg.
Each stool is flat packed, and is easily assembled slotting together without tools. For extra strength and durability it is recommended the top piece is glued to the supporting pieces.
