Seven Thousand Oaks Festival
Rug up, put on your hats, gloves and scarves, and head on out to the Seven Thousand Oaks Festival which kicks off this weekend in Melbourne, and continues for the next 6 weeks. The Festival has over 20 artists from around the nation participating in a variety of indoor and outdoor events which explore the issue of sustainability in the cultural sphere, through the mediums of music, visual art, performance and installation.
The Guildford Lane Gallery hosts the first exhibition Adaptation, where 5 Melbourne based artists have created three dimensional works addressing a cultural approach to sustainability.
On Sunday 20 June 2010, The Heide Museum of Modern Art will host “Touch at a Distance”. Wander through the Sculpture Park and listen to musicians from around the country making music with wind instruments, vibraphones, homemade instruments, ruined pianos, and sound recordings from Antartica just to mention a few!
Every Saturday artists will be featuring interactive artworks addressing sustainability at the Arena event in City Square.
Finally, if you are looking to get your hands dirty (literally), you can venture up to Moyston and help out with Landcare’s Plant Out, where you can participate in a weekend of tree planting and camping fun.
Further details of event locations and times available at the Seven Thousand Oaks website.
